48 VAN WIE TERRACE

Members of the Guilderland Fire Department were called to 48 Van Wie Terrace around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, for a mutual aid structure fire with the Westmere Fire Department. Truck 29 responded with the initial call and Squad 23 quickly followed once a signal 30 was declared.

While battling the blaze at 48, Van Wie Terrace crews were notified by the neighbor at 46 of a small fire which had started in that residence. That fire was quickly extinguished resulting in minimal damage to the residence. There was an electrical distribution issue in the area so additional crews were called in to check the remaining houses on the street as National Grid shut off the power to the neighborhood as a precaution.

Crews from Guilderland, McKownville, North Bethlehem and Fort Hunter responded to the scene while crews from Slingerlands, Guilderland Center and Fuller Road fire departments relocated to cover the companies operating at the fire.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
