Guilderland & McKownville
Joint Training
On the evening of Monday, August 24 volunteer members of the Guilderland Fire Department conducted a joint-operations tower burn drill with McKownville Fire Department. The goal for this exercise was to perform a variety of firefighting tactics under a unified command structure between multiple departments.
During a real working structure fire (residential or commercial), this multi-department operation is representative of real-life responses due to emergency management protocols in the Town of Guilderland.
Over 30 members from both departments conducted primary fire attack, search & rescue, ladder operations, water supply and incident command operations in a series of evolutions designed to incorporate multiple elements that are typical or possible during working structure fires.
