Firefighter for a Day

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a firefighter?

The Guilderland Fire Department invites you to join us for Firefighter for a Day — a hands-on opportunity to step into the world of the fire service and experience some of what our firefighters do.

Participants will spend time with members of the Guilderland Fire Department, get an up-close look at our fire apparatus and equipment, and take part in firefighter-themed activities designed to give you a taste of life at the firehouse.

What to Expect

During Firefighter for a Day, participants will have the opportunity to:

Meet and interact with Guilderland firefighters
Explore our fire trucks and firefighting equipment
Learn about the protective gear firefighters wear
Participate in hands-on firefighter activities
Learn about fire safety and emergency response
See what it takes to be part of a volunteer fire department
Have some fun along the way!

No previous firefighting experience is needed. Our members will be there throughout the event to guide participants and make the experience safe, educational, and fun.

Advance registration is required.

Space for Firefighter for a Day is limited, so we encourage you to RSVP early. Once we reach our maximum number of participants, registration may be closed.
